Learn about Panama along with us in our new adventure
First, it is so much more than the
canal.
And there are probably more mosquitoes in your back yard.
With those two big misconceptions out of the way, here are a few things that we find

If you are serious about learning about
Panama read:
David
McCullough, Path Between The Seas:
The creation of the Panama Canal 1870-1914. History is some times a
"page turner".
At over 600+ pages this is a commitment but well written and
exciting. Someday when you see the locks at Miraflores you will better
appreciate what a feat this was. The book also reveals important insights
to understand the relationship of Panama to the United Sates then and
now. The
Economist provides a short read and one that caught our attention in December of 2009 when
Panama was not even on our "radar"
From The Economist - December
03. 2009 The Panama Canal: A Plan To
Unlock Prosperity. Ten years ago this month Panama took possession of the
canal that bears its name. It has high hopes for a $5.25 billion expansion
of the canal http://www.economist.com/node/15014282
One can usually count on The Economist
for a little balance of enthusiasm with skepticism
Panama Singapore for Central America: July 14 2011, Panama's
Economy: Latin America's fastest growing country has set its sights high.
First it needs a government as impressive as it economy http://www.economist.com/node/18959000
